Officially on Etsy

I have opened a little shop on Etsy and I'm excited about the opportunities this new channel will bring in terms of clients and jewelry sales.  I've only added a few items of the many I have in inventory but I thought I would ease into the online sales and see how it goes.  I've hired a graphic designer on Etsy to handle my banner.  After providing ideas about the general look I'm hoping for, I am excited to see the new draft she is working on this week!! As soon as it is done, I'll add it to the shop.  Drop by and take a look at the pieces up for sale.  If you are a friend on facebook consider the shipping fees free!

A Night of Inspiration

Last night I had a tough time sleeping so rather than let time waste by I was inspired to get some creations underway. Here are the items I made while working through sleep deprivation...I must say I work best under these conditions....who knew.

Summer Bliss

Finally... I have had the chance to arrange a semi decent photo set up and write a blog entry.  I bought the Sony Cyber Shot (in Pink of course) 14.1 pixels, with 4x zoom lens - ahhh simple photo ops at a great price.

It is great, taking pictures is easy and I don't have to fuss with changing the settings every time I want a different angle.  I already had a camera,  you see my father, the avid photographer (he really isn't but is convinced he is) talked me into getting the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ7 to take photos.  This is a great camera, however if you don't have time to go through a manual to figure out settings, white balance and all the other photographer jargon that seems to come along with fancy cameras then you won't appreciate this camera.  Every time I tried to take pictures of the jewelry pieces, I turned out with pictures that were either out of focus or odd in color.  This is a good lesson for me - spending more money doesn't always mean you get better quality.  The Sony Cyber Shot has proven to make my life much easier in the photo taking department.

This summer has been super busy with filling wedding order samples.  I had some good luck stumbling on a niche market too....First Holy Communions (An important Catholic ceremony- see this link for more info http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/First_Communion).  I made a rosary for my grandmother, I brought it into work and showed it to some friends.  Word of mouth is a great thing in building a client base, after a few people made some orders for custom made rosaries things took off from there.

Bridal Crown Necklace
I have posted some new pictures of a few summer collection pieces. The collection this summer has been inspired by vintage glam - the 30's, 40's and 50's were an amazing time for fashion and accessories and I couldn't help but fall in love after watching Breakfast at Tiffany's ( I know, took me long enough to watch this classic!!!). I started doing some research after watching the movie and I love so much about these decades.   Take a look and if you like anything contact me.

Custom made pieces seem to be the most popular items right now, it seems people love to design their own piece.  I have the amazing opportunity to bring their creations to life.  It is a win for my clients and myself.

Until the next entry - have fun and enjoy the summer!
